Webcast viewership up from last year
Almost 400 CIRI shareholders and 200 guests attended the 35th annual meeting of CIRI shareholders on June 7 in Anchorage at the Sullivan Arena. CIRI’s Board members and various staff members also attended.
Shareholders heard a business report from Margie Brown, CIRI president and chief executive officer, and Sophie Minich, CIRI chief operating officer. Shareholders also approved the 2007 annual meeting minutes and enjoyed a performance by the Fireweed Dancers. The Shareholder Participation Committees gave a special presentation regarding their activities and purpose.
Cook Inlet Tribal Council (CITC) president Gloria O’Neill shared a slideshow on CITC’s programs and services. These included the Tikahtnu Commons Workforce Initiative, a partnership between CIRI, CITC and the Alaska Department of Labor to focus on recruiting and training CIRI shareholders and Alaska Natives for construction and retail jobs at the regional retail and entertainment center being constructed in northeast Anchorage.
CIRI again broadcast the annual meeting through a webcast this year. One hundred thirty-eight shareholders registered to view the webcast on their computers, an increase of 84 percent from last year.
