Sister marine cruises companies Prince William Sound Glacier Cruises (PWS)

Sister marine cruises companies Prince William Sound Glacier Cruises (PWS) and Kenai Fjords Tours (KFT) each won a 2008 C.R.U.I.S.E. Service Award from Princess Cruises on Oct. 2. The awards go to tourism operators that received the highest marks for shore excursion experiences from Princess passenger surveys.

“This was PWS’s fifth consecutive year to receive the award, which we are really proud of,” said Kelly Bender, PWS general manager. “We go up against some big companies who also offer excursions from Whittier, including Princess Tours, who offer a bus trip, so it really means a lot to us. Every crew member onboard takes it personally, and the award goes to show that.”

KFT won the “Shore Excursion of the Season” category for its Resurrection Bay Wildlife Cruise operating from the port of Seward, Alaska. The Resurrection Bay Wildlife Cruise offers three and five-hour tours in scenic Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park, including a stop at the Fox Island Day Lodge.

PWS won the same category for its Glacier Adventure Cruise operating from the port of Whittier, Alaska. The Glacier Adventure Cruise offers a four hour tour through Passage Canal into Blackstone Bay, where passengers can view towering glaciers and majestic waterfalls.

Both companies received a plaque, a letter of commendation and a tour of the Princess ship at port.
