In an effort to bring consistent environmental and commercial standards to future gravel mining agreements, CIRI and six in-region ANCSA village corporations (Chickaloon Moose Creek Native Association Inc., Eklutna Inc., Knikatnu Inc., Ninilchik Natives Association Inc., Salamatof Inc. and Tyonek Native Corp.) and one in-region ANCSA group (Montana Creek Native Association Inc.) signed a Universal Gravel Agreement on July 28. The signing culminated nearly five years of work. The hope is that the agreement provides opportunities for the organizations to work with CIRI to responsibly develop the region’s gravel resources. Pictured are representatives from six of the corporations/groups.
