Martha Ann (Kalerak) Anselm died Feb. 28, at Providence Horizon House in Anchorage. Ms. Anselm was born Aug. 22, 1933, in Golivan, Alaska. She is survived by her children, Carol Crandall, Leona Johnson, Susan Johnson, Juanita Johnson, Willie L. Johnson Jr., Robert Johnson and Wilma Johnson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley Mae Crosby, 80
Shirley Mae Crosby died Jan. 7 at her MacInnes House residence in Anchorage. Ms. Crosby was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Seldovia, Alaska, to Lewis and Emma Shell. Shirley was preceded in death by husband, Clair; son, Clair II; parents, Lewis and Emma Shell; brothers, Lewis and Sydney; and sisters, Flora, Dorothy, Clara, Hazel, Gladys, Vivian and Frances. She is survived by her sister, Emily; son, Elias Sutton and his wife Susan; daughters, Vickie Wise and her husband Gary, Carol East and her husband John, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roy James Evans Jr., 47
Roy James Evans Jr. died Feb. 27, at home in Nanwalek, Alaska. Mr. Evans was born Oct. 4, 1960, in Fairbanks. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Evans; and children, Teresa, Stephanie, Tina, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Elaine and Charlotte.

Emma I Martinchick, 72
Emma I.Martinchick died Feb. 26, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Ms. Martinchick was born March 26, 1935, in Unalakleet, Alaska, and was raised in Kotzebue, Alaska. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rudy Martinchick; daughters, Renee Luppino and Maxine Echak; and sons, Chris, David and Ted Martinchick. Emma leaves 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Denise Ellen Paneok, 48

Denise Ellen Paneok, a pioneer of Alaska aviation, noted artist, author, public speaker, community activist/volunteer, and scrimshander, died March 2, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. She is survived by her sister, Tina Beth Godsey; brother-in-law, Sean Godsey; and nephew, Gunnar Evak Godsey, all of Falling Waters, W.V.; father, Ron Burgandine of San Diego, Calif.; grandmother, Sarah Evak of Kotzebue, Alaska, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marjorie Rosser, 68
Marjorie Rosser died Feb. 1, in Bessemer, Ala. Margie was born Oct. 13, 1939, in Kogiyong, Alaska. She was a tribal member of the Native Village of Eklutna. Margie was the great-granddaughter of Olga and Chief (Esi) Ezi. Her maternal grandparents were Annie (Ezi) Pete and Bill Pete (half brother of Shem Pete). Margie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ogburn Rosser; daughters, Patricia Morris, Sandra Moran and Sarah Ann Clark; son, George Rosser; and 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her cousins the Stephan, Ezi and Mills families and Irene McMillan.

Marie Cecile Sipary died Feb. 14, at home in Anchorage. Ms. Sipary was born June 10, 1933, in Tununak, Alaska. She is survived by her sister, Martina Heckman; and brothers, John and Pius Sipary.
