The CIRI Foundation (TCF) is proud to support original enrollees of CIRI and their direct lineal descendants in reaching their goals for higher education and training. Today, TCF’s core mission is the same as it was 27 years ago – to encourage education and career development through post-secondary scholarships and grants, and to perpetuate and enhance the heritage of the Cook Inlet region’s Alaska Native people.
Since 1982, TCF has awarded more than $15 million toward post-secondary education. Even during these tough economic times, TCF is proud to provide students with an opportunity to succeed and to share some of the heart-felt thanks they have received in return:
“Thank you for the opportunity. I could not have made it with far without the support of your program!!” Marie S., original enrollee of CIRI
“I very much appreciate the TCF scholarship award. Thank you. I am continuing to make progress on my doctorate and hope that it will be useful to benefit myself and others in the future. Again, thank you.” Leslie S., CIRI descendant
“I would like to tell all of you at The CIRI Foundation that I really do appreciate all of the hard work you do to make our world a better place to live. In the past 20 years I have not been the best upstanding member of society, I have had some issues and I have had to deal with them the last four months…. so I intend not to waste any of the money that has been given to me, it is a new experience for me to be in school again, and I am enjoying every minute. So I am saying ‘thanks’ to all of you, and keep up the good work.” Alan T., original enrollee of CIRI
TCF scholarship and grant recipients have a higher household income, are more likely to have earned a college degree (36 percent versus 18 percent), and are more likely to be fully employed (56 percent versus 38 percent).
