CIRI descendant Rosemary “Utuana” Berg was crowned Miss WEIO in the 2012 World Eskimo- Indian Olympics (WEIO) Pageant. She represented Point Hope, Alaska as “Miss Tikigaq.” Berg earned the title of Miss WEIO 2012 with her platform of “Hope for Alaska.” According to Berg, “Hope for Alaska” is “to provide a positive and encouraging message of hope to Alaska Native people who, like me, have been through negative and traumatic circumstances.” Ms. Berg is the daughter of CIRI shareholder Melanya (Oskolkoff) Berg and granddaughter of the late Joseph G. Oskolkoff of Ninilchik, Alaska.
