CIRI is seeking nominations for the 2011 CIRI Shareholder of the Year Award, the 2011 CIRI Elder Shareholder of the Year Award and the Alaska Federation of Natives’ (AFN) President’s Awards. Nominations must be submitted to CIRI by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15.
The CIRI Shareholder of the Year and the CIRI Elder Shareholder of the Year awards recognize shareholders for their exemplary dedication to Alaska Native culture, heritage and communities. The awards will be presented at the CIRI Friendship Potlatch in Anchorage in October.
CIRI is also seeking recommendations for its nominations to AFN. There are 12 AFN President’s Awards categories: Culture Bearer, Della Keats “Healing Hands,” Eileen Panigeo MacLean Education, Elder of the Year, Health, Hunter- Fisher, Parents of the Year, Public Service, Lu Young Youth Leadership, Roger Lang Youth Leadership, Glenn Godfrey Law Enforcement and Small Business. The awards will be presented at the 2011 AFN Convention in Anchorage’s Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center.
