The Fireweed Business Center, CIRI’s corporate headquarters in midtown Anchorage, is an elegant, energy-efficient building that promotes productivity in a comfortable and controllable work environment. In 2017, it achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
One of the building’s energy-efficient technologies is automated intelligent windows that transition to control light and heat. Beginning this summer, CIRI will work with the window manufacturer, View Dynamic Glass, to upgrade all the windows at the Fireweed Business Center—at no cost to CIRI.
According to Craig Driver, director, CIRI Real Estate, “Because CIRI was an early partner with View in bringing Dynamic Glass to market, and because smart window technology has greatly advanced since the windows were installed, View has offered to replace and upgrade the glass in the building free of charge.”
CIRI will work with View and local contractors to manage the project in a way that minimally impacts CIRI staff and other building tenants. The project began this summer, with a multi-phase approach planned over the next two years.
