The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) was selected as a 2012 recipient of the Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities for its distinguished service to the humanities. The Awards for the Humanities is an annual series of awards honoring the contribution of individuals and groups that enrich the civic, intellectual and cultural life of all Alaskans through the wisdom and techniques of the humanities. Once a year, citizens and organizations from around the state are honored as the recipients of the Governor’s Awards.
The awards are sponsored by the Alaska Humanities Forum, the Alaska State Council on the Arts, and the Office of the Governor with generous support from ConocoPhillips Alaska and BP. The award was presented during a dinner at the Hotel Captain Cook on Oct. 18.
