CIRI prioritizes the use of its lands for cultural, subsistence and recreational activities of Shareholders and Descendants. As such, for more than 20 years, CIRI and the Ninilchik Traditional Council (NTC) have been working together to manage access to CIRI lands for moose hunting. CIRI is pleased to continue this partnership with NTC in 2024; NTC’s efforts during the moose hunting season are instrumental.
State of Alaska Game Management Unit 15C (GMU15C), located on the Kenai Peninsula, encompasses both CIRI and Ninilchik Native Association, Inc. lands. GMU15C is an important resource for CIRI Shareholders and Descendants who rely on subsistence hunting to feed their family.
For the 2024 moose hunting season, NTC is responsible for issuing permits to hunt on CIRI lands within GMU15C. CIRI Shareholders and Descendants who wish to access CIRI lands open for moose hunting within GMU15C must acquire the necessary permits from NTC.
NTC will begin issuing permits beginning Monday, August 19, 2024. Permits can be obtained at the NTC office located at 15910 Sterling Hwy, Ninilchik, AK 99639.
Moose hunting within GMU15C is open September 1 – September 25, 2024. CIRI lands open for moose hunting in 2024 are indicated in green on the map. Please refer to State of Alaska, Department of Fish & Game for further information about moose hunting season and hunting regulations.
If you have any questions regarding permission to access CIRI lands, please email permitting@ciri.com.
